Advancing Public Health and Health Education  

CAAPHP Mission and Goals

The Consortium of African American Public Health Programs (CAAPHP) is an organization that strives to advocate for health equity and social justice through academic research and service to community. CAAPHP aims to advance public health and health education through promotion of public health programs at Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The development of partnerships that encourage community service and academic research is an important objective of CAAPHP.

Long-term goals of CAAPHP include:

1. Diversifying the field of public health and health education work force.
2. Addressing health inequities within African American communities.
3.  Addressing social injustices, and political determinants of health impacting African Americans. ​

Coordinating Site: Bethune - Cookman University

Most recently, Bethune-Cookman University has been the coordinating site for CAAPHP. BCU offers a Master of Public Health program comprised of 45-hour credits aimed at supplying students with extensive knowledge of the public health field as it relates to social justice, health equity and leadership.
