· In 2009, Meharry Medical School completed its CEPH site-visit, in anticipation of its initial accreditation

· In 2008, CAAPHP received an STD training and education grant from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

· In 2008, Howard University withdrew from the Consortium after discontinuing its public health program

· In 2008, Jackson State University received its 5-yr accreditation as a public health program from the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH)

    The Consortium Goals were revised during the February 2006 Meeting.
2. Leadership Development

    Faculty/ Student Exchange
    The objective of the faculty/student exchange program is to promote academic cooperation between Consortium member schools, provide cross cultural exposure to students and faculty, and sharing of resources.

    Junior Faculty Fellowship Program
    The Junior Faculty Fellowship program will encourage African American students to choose and pursue graduate careers in public health. This public health experience will provide an opportunity to apply the concepts and principals of public health practice as it relates to their community and help to increase the participation of minority faculty that are under represented in the public health sciences.
